Minty is a former division head of an international financial institution and is an accomplished leader with more than 30 years of experience in finance, 25 years of them in senior executive management positions. She developed expertise in building, revitalizing, and optimizing a company’s organizational infrastructure, products, processes, measurement systems, and marketing strategies to optimize results.
A primary goal in her career was to serve as a communicator to and developer of professional women. This role came early as Minty spent much of her career challenging global corporations to recognize worth and accomplishments over gender. She joined with a small group of women to establish the Bankers Trust's Global Partnership Network for Women (GPNW). Her professional affiliations also include being a charter member of Women on Wall Street (WOWS). GPNW and WOWS are organizations that not only give women a place to network and grow together, but also sponsor conferences to empower women’s career and economic growth.
Minty retired in 2004 as director of global billing from State Street Corporation, formerly Deutsche Bank, ending a 32-year career in finance and accounting. She holds an MBA in business from Fairleigh Dickinson University and a bachelor’s in business administration from Norfolk State University.
Minty holds membership in the Alpha Delta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., serving as president from 2006–2009 and twice receiving “The South Eastern Basileus of the Year Award,” one of the region’s highest honors; The Ivy Center Foundation of Nashville, Inc., Board Chairman (2018–present); Nashville Foundation for Women of Color president (2018–present); the National Association of Parliamentarians; and the Women on Wall Street among her many community and civic organizations. She also served on the State of Tennessee Board of Physical Therapy and is the former president of the New Visions Foundation, a community advisory board for the New Visions Youth Development Center.
Her honors and awards are many, including the International Who's Who of Professionals.
Minty and her husband, Bertram, who is retired from Verizon Communications, Inc., have two children, Melanie Ballard Gayles and Brian Ballard, and six grandchildren.
